Who Is Going To Fill Their Shoes?

On April 24 Leslie Shaw went home to be with our Lord!  Bill Tyler, Tommy Warren, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Richardson and I traveled to El Dorado, Arkansas to attend Leslie’s memorial at The First Baptist Church of Smackover, Arkansas.  A memorial for Leslie was held in our Association on May 27 at 7pm at Cedar Bay Baptist Church.

Memorial to a Woman of God

On Thursday evening May 1, Mrs. Shirley Lindsey went to be with the Lord.  Mrs. Lindsey was the mother of Peggy Hyatt, pastor’s wife at The First Baptist Church of Callahan.  At her memorial service on Monday evening May 5 at The First Baptist Church of Jacksonville her son in law Dr. Lynn Hyatt asked for all present that had been led to Christ or mentored in Christ by this dear woman to stand.  It seemed like over half of the congregation stood including Jody and me.  As Dr. Hyatt used a visible illustration of holding up a pair of Mrs. Lindsey’s shoes and asking the question, “who will fill these shoes now”?  My first feeling was, dear God you don’t make them like Mrs. Lindsey any more!  But that’s what her life was all about, mentoring and teaching, showing us the way things should be done.  She was a wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, soul winner, encourager, and friend.  Mrs. Lindsey was in love with Jesus and her love for Him was contagious.  Those of us who knew her and what she was about must step forward to fill her shoes!

In His Service-
